Wheel Decide

This interactive word wheel allows you to customize your options to make choice fun!

Word Wheel:  You can split your class into teams to battle each other in an epic vocab review game. You can have the students play separately and have them check off the words that they get correct. How about create your own spinner with the vocab words on them and have the students spin to get the word they need to define? The word wheel can be used in so many different ways. MoveNote

After our Widget Wednesday session, the third grade teachers jumped on board with communication tools. Mrs. Von Plinsky's class has been busy communicating with Movenote! They were thrilled to see their faces and be able to share their work. Take a look:

Winter Stories Sent with Love

Mindy McNeal's Winter Stories

What were the students working on?
WeVideo Holiday stories for the Children's Hospital. Each student chose a Laura Numeroff story and created a video. They had to practice their fluency (part of their IEP goals), create a video including a title page, pictures, and ending page. They recorded their voices through vocaroo.com to incorporate in the video.

What do you want the students to learn from this activity?
To improve on their fluency, use technology (WeVideo) and use their lifeskills outside of school. (Sharing the stories with the Children's Hospital)

How does this activity tie to your standards?
The students used these standards to incorporate with their WeVideo projects.

Grade 2 (4.1) Students are expected to read text with purpose and understanding (4.2) Students are expected to read orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, expression, intonation, and phrasing on successive readings.
Grade 3, 4, and 5 (4.1) Students are expected to build upon and continue applying previous learning. (4.2) Students will read prose and poetry orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, expression, intonation and phrasing on successive readings.

How does this lesson connect to the 4 C's of the 21st Century Learner?
Collaboration- working with the TLC, teacher and students in a small group, one-on-one basis.

Communication- TLC, teacher and students had to communicate about the project to figure

out how to create it.

Creativity- WeVideo was new to most of these students, finding images that related to the story and fit in with their reading.

Critical Thinking- Figuring out how their voice fit in with the pictures through the presentation.
